I'd have to say one of my old sites. My very very first forum was awful. No admin panel or anything. You basically picked a name and posted. lol I shut it down pretty quick as it was out of control. I then started out with a hosted ProBoards. This was in the late 90's.

I never joined a forum until around 2000 and never tried to start one until the late 2000s I think. My first attempts were on phpBB and SMF and spambots would destroy them eventually.

Ewww, why did you have to ask that... LOL The first forum that I ran was a "Rap Battle" forum back in the late 90's. I'd come across a forum on Eminem's website when I was young and dumb and listened to that... It was hosted by ProBoards. I made a forum.... and, at the time, I was rapping (was pretty good at it too). So the theme was all rap related. I think back to when I started with forums and I shudder LOL

Yes phpBB was what I switched to after ProBoards. I never had an issue with spambots, but rather haters who made like 100's of daily insulting posts forcing me to shut down. :(

On ZB ..'Wild Magic' was my first board. 2 or 3 years lata, i opened up 'Infinity Forums' on IPB.

Infinity ended up winning 'Best General Entertainment Board' 4 months in a row. Was an amazing place ..with so many quality people. :) I poured over 4k into that place ..'twas worth every cent though. Infinity gave back to me something that money just can't buy. It gave to me the gift of the irreplaceable, lifelong friendship of @Bluezone777 ;*:angel:

Ultimately, i ended up spending more time working in the acp, then i did on the open board. We were only a few posts off 100k ..but me adding the shoutbox was the beginning of the end. Quality topics were overlooked ..cause everyone LOVED the shoutbox ..and the board suffered as a result.

Ahh well ..as they say ..all good things must come to an end.. :ermm:

BTW .. no idea who that saying originated from .. but from my perspective .. that pessimistic, negative, glass half empty, partypooper, probably needed a good ass kicking aye. xD

I hate ZB. It must be the worst forum platform I've ever seen. lol My biggest forum has over 2500 members, and 30k posts. Still going strong!

I'm surprised you forgot about Battery which came before Infinity. :p

I remember those Quantum questions you would ask and those lovely shoutbox conversations we would have when it was just the two of us and neither of us could care if anyone else ever showed up. lol

I have to say Infinity was quite a wild ride but it was well worth it.

LOL!. If Koop was still around, he'd be smacking my ass already. How did I eva forget Battery? :ninja:

Yep. The SB and The Italian Stallions Club.

Simply the best! ;P

And @zoldos .. tbh, when I came back to ZB from IPB .. i really appreciated the simplicity of it all. Meant more time away from the acp ..and more time to spend with my friends ;)

Possibly fending off the spambots which destroyed my forum would have been easy - but I didn't know about the phpBB etc. support forums. Anyway, in this biz, knowledge is the advantage - and people are horrible because they don't have it.

I never had an issue with spam bots. I used a lot of Question & Answer captchas. :D
